Service Engineer required at TeraView

TeraView is developing ways to exploit terahertz (THz) radiation in many ground-breaking applications. We are currently developing a number of products that require highly-skilled, enthusiastic and energetic people to work in this evolving company.

An opportunity has arisen for a Service Engineer to join our team to service and support our scientific instruments, both in the field and in house. We require an individual who is able to meet the existing operational needs of the company but who is also looking to join a company with opportunities for career development as the company grows.

You will have 3 years experience of working in a field service or technical support role, gained within a scientific instrumentation/equipment environment, and be familiar with the set up and alignment of optical instrumentation. Qualified to a minimum of HNC level or above in electronics or other relevant technical discipline, you will be a self-starter with a positive attitude and a proven ability to work in small multi-disciplinary teams. The role entails a significant level of overseas travel, sometimes with little notice. Experience of working within a formal quality system, such as ISO9001 is important.

Role & Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Service Manager, your responsibilities will include:

 Servicing and maintaining instruments both in the field and in-house.
 Alignment of newly built instruments.
 Factory Acceptance testing
 Assisting in the build of instruments
 Installation and Site acceptance testing

Key Skills: 

The successful applicant will have:-

Experience as a service engineer Flexibility to travel worldwide Knowledge of lasers and alignment Knowledge of electronics Knowledge of working within a formal quality system Good interpersonal skills Good attention to detail Ability to produce high quality documentation Own transport and a clean driving licence

Experience and Education:
 HNC or above in electronics or similar technical discipline
 Previous experience of working in service/support of scientific instrumentation
 Strong customer facing skills
 Good communication skills
 The ability to work alone and on own initiative
 Demonstration of strong fault-finding skills
 Ability to work in a team
 Flexible approach to work
 Ability to travel abroad and at short notice
Knowledge of terahertz systems or similar products
