Business Development Manager - University and Pharmaceuticals

TeraView is the world’s leading terahertz company. Established in 2001, as a spin out from the Toshiba laboratories in Cambridge the company is focused on the application of terahertz technology.

A small, but growing company, TeraView’s business is split into 3 main areas: Semiconductor Industrial University, Research institutions and Pharmaceuticals

Overview of the Role
The key function of the role is to generate enquiries and sales of TeraView’s products within the university and pharmaceutical sectors. This is either done directly or through the management of local agents. The job holder will have global business development responsibility.

The incumbent will be expected to develop and implement an appropriate marketing plan and to lead all aspects of the sales process Post sales, the person will liaise with the customers to ensure ongoing satisfaction and to sell additional services and upgrades.

As part of the role the person will also be expected to: 
o Present at suitable conferences 
o Manage and motivate local agents 
o Work closely with the team on new product or service offerings 
o Run system demonstrations

Specification Base: the job is based at the company’s office in Cambridge

Travel will be circa 25%

Qualifications: Good physical science degree. A business qualification would also be an advantage.

Ideal Experience:
o 5 years+ post graduate experience in a sales or applications role with an analytical/photonics equipment supplier. Ideally experienced in optical spectroscopic or imaging techniques including NIR, Raman, fluorescence etc. Experience of selling long lead time, high value, scientific equipment into the academic sector
c Experience of managing agents globally
c Track record of growing business’

Languages: Must have good written and spoken English. Additional language would be an advantage.
